Description
The department was established with the founding of the college in 1999-2000 under the name of the Department of Anatomy and Embryology. It is one of the academic departments at the College of Human Medicine in Gharyan. It teaches anatomy and embryology to the students of the basic stage of the College of Human Medicine, first and second years.
Vision
· Reaching the highest level in teaching anatomy and embryology to students of the College of Human Medicine and other colleges and various institutes at Gharyan University.
· Develop educational programs for graduate students that are supported by appropriate research activities and led by department faculty.
· Participate in community service through some scientific and environment-related research.
Mission
· Teaching anatomical sciences in a sophisticated and high-quality manner using modern educational techniques and setting the objectives of the education process through periodic evaluation of students.
· Promoting the study of anatomical sciences as a preparatory study for the benefit of postgraduate students by participating in developing the list of postgraduate studies.
· Contribute and provide support to improve medical education by conducting clinically relevant medical research in order to participate in patient care and community service.
Goals
First: Achieving excellence in teaching anatomy and embryology to undergraduate students through:
· Providing students with knowledge related to the normal structure of the human body at the level of anatomical regions and organs to study normal growth and development related to anatomical topics.
· Relating anatomical facts to their clinical application
· Applying local standards for medical education in the department and developing teaching methods based on students’ participation in the educational process.
· Participate in teaching and describing advanced anatomy courses in accordance with the vision and mission of the college.
· Raising the capabilities of the department’s faculty members by attending various courses and workshops.
· Continuous self-evaluation by analyzing feedback from periodic student questionnaires and implementing corrective measures based on them.
· Commitment to professional ethics while evaluating students to achieve fairness and non-discrimination.
Second: Achieving excellence in teaching for graduate students in the department through:
· Continuous updating of training programs for anatomy and embryology for postgraduate students in the department.
· Holding periodic scientific seminars in the department.
· Updating the evaluation systems for the department’s training courses and programs. Third: Implementing the department’s research plan in accordance with the research plan of the college and university and in a way that serves the community through:
· Conducting research in modern medical fields that can be applied clinically
· Participation in scientific conferences to enrich the research process.
